DuBarry 5390: Shirtdress, circa 1940s

It’s been very overcast and humid here the past few days, and I haven’t had a chance to take presentable pictures of Butterick 5209 yet, but it is finished. I wore it to work yesterday and it was very comfortable and breathable. More construction details of this to come.

My next project is Dubarry 5390, a classic shirtdress, circa 1940s. The line drawing looks very plain, but I love the simple and utilitarian feel of it. I started a muslin of this the other day and it looks good so far. Buttons are expensive here so I’ll probably modify it to use less buttons and will leave out the patch pockets on the bodice area.
