I finally finished Simplicity 3000. At some point this project stopped being enjoyable and just became a burden. I wanted to finish it just because it had some potential, but the process was far from fun. I still need to take proper photos with it.
What a stunning result – your piping is exceptionally neat for your first time using it, especially on a slippery fabric like brocade. I made a very similar dress for my wedding dress, but didn’t use piping because I didn’t think it would turn out well. After seeing your dress I think piping is perfect (and traditional), too bad I won’t be wearing mine again because I didn’t pretreat the fabric and it shrunk badly! My dress is here if you’d like to have a look: http://loweryourpresserfoot.blogspot.com/2008/02/valentines-day-inspired-post.html
Gorgeous! I know what you mean about projects wearing on you. To me coats are like that. But it’s beautiful, so enjoy!
So, what made it a burden instead of enjoyable?
Kristy, your dress is beautiful! I love the fabric you used. Your wedding pictures are amazing!
I read your blog all the time btw (though I rarely comment.)
I’ve never made a coat before, but I can imagine!
The brocade was very slippery to work with, and everything seemed to slide around. It was difficult to be very precise with this fabric.
It was a burden worth doing, it seems, because the finished dress is amazing!
