Urgent Request: Reader Feedback

Esteemed Sewing Assistant, looking very pensive.

+ + +

So I’ve had this site for awhile now as a way to chronicle my sewing projects, and I wanted some input on what items you’d like to see.

1) What do I currently blog about that you like? Dislike?
2) How often would you ideally like to see posts? 3x a week? 1x a week?
3) What kind of content do you want to see? Some ideas: outfit posts, sewing patterns, sewing inspiration, finished works, works in progress, muslin adjustments, styling vintage-inspired fashions, non-scandalous posts about my personal life, instagrams, etc.

Please leave any suggestions in the comments.

(I actually have no idea who even reads this still, but thank you so much in advance.)

I enjoyed your posts so far (read through your blog until waaay back a few weeks ago) so i’d say post as often as you can :)

I enjoy your vintage fashions the most. But I know you don’t want to exclusively sew vintage. I also like your posts about fashion events that you attend. I’ll never work in fashion or live in New York, so I can live vicariously through you when you post about things I know I will never do but I think are really cool.
The only thing I dislike is the angle of your photos is too high. I don’t know if you have a giant taking your picture or if you are using a tripod. Either way, a lower angle would show the clothes better.
I don’t have a specific number of posts a week that I would like to see. It can get too stressful to have meaningful posts if you feel locked in to X number per week. Post as often as you want, or as little as you want. It’s all good.

I think all of your posts are great. I do have a question, why do you take most of your pictures in one location after you finish a project? Mix up the background a bit maybe? Your post can come as often or infrequently as you want, but definitely keep them coming. i would like to see some more outfit post and finished works with it being worn on a day to day basis?
The non-scandalous post about your personal life is also a great idea. I would love to see more of NY through your eyes.

hi, i have been following your blog for maybe a year and i think this is only about the 2nd or 3rd time i have commented, but i do enjoy your posts. have to admit i preferred it in the vintage days but understand your reasons for moving away from that …. and i am still following! :-) anything sewing related is good for me really… i love anything that introduces me to new patterns and fabrics to use (i live in a small town in a small country, so appreciate any kind of inspiration you provide). all your ideas for things to post about sound good to me. Cheers, Rhonda

I love your blog and happy to red about your sewing adventures but also a bit about life in general. Like Lorth I would like to see a variety of photos, maybe different perspectives and poses and different locations. You are gorgeous, so I’m sure you photograph well anywhere :)

I like all the types of posts you mentioned, but I particularly enjoy your outfit posts and posts about vintage-inspired fashions. It’s funny–when you posted saying you were moving away from dressing by-the-book vintage I was a little wary, but I’ve actually enjoyed reading about how you’re mixing vintage into a more modern/edgy look a LOT, I think because it’s much more like how I dress. (I wish I were the kind of person who could wear heels and victory rolls every day but I am totally not.) So my favourites of your posts at the moment have been ones about how your style is evolving and your wardrobe is coming together as a collection.

I like your vintage posts, finished projects and works in progress the best. Which is not to say that I don’t enjoy them all. I’d even be up for some semi-scandalous posts!

I read blogs mainly for the sewing/crafty aspect, but I’m also incredibly nosy & love knowing what’s going on in people’s lives :) Stuff like content & infrequency doesn’t matter as much to me, I just like to see picturesssss. I told you – I’m nosy!

I’ve been a “lurker” on your blog for a year or so now, I think. (I’m shy in person and online too.) I started reading because your sense of style and sewing skills seem to be on par with mine. I too live in a big city (SF) but have not found a sewing community. I love that you have no sewing fear and post regularly. (I often let my failures slow me down and I cannot blog regularly to save my life, so it’s inspiring to see someone who’s my opposite.) I love that your posts are often brief; it makes them easy to read in short, free moments, or catch up on many on the weekend. I think you have a great photo editing eye! Your select pics always clearly show exactly what you’re focusing on (outift/success/failure) and look pretty!

I’d love to see you post at least every other day or so, and sometimes I wish you’d show more of your sewing process on garments. I love to see what you’ve made, but I’m also curious about how easy/hard the pattern was to follow and what you learned overall in creating a new garment (ie. a new skill/trick, you hate/love a certain fabric).

Thanks Alicia, I’ll definitely keep your comments in mind! :)
