I had a chance to go Gertie’s Book Launch party over the weekend. It was at The Sewing Studio, a spacious place with lots of sewing machines, tables and dress forms. There was food and drinks and a cake with Gertie’s book cover on it. I also met some sewing bloggers there — Cindy, Ginger, Nettie and . I even got Gertie to sign my book in the end.
Sewing is such an introverted hobby, and a lot of times I feel like I’m sewing in a vacuum. It was fun to meet people who I could talk to about this, and great to see them offline as well.
What, what a fantastic opportunity!
Thanks for the wonderful photographs, Janice. I managed to totally flake and not get any good pictures. I’m sorry we didn’t get to meet. I arrived late and it took me a while to get brave enough to approach people. Hope to actually get to talk to you the next time there is a sewing-related event in the area. Thanks again for the beautiful pictures. Take care.
Yes, next time you’re out at a sewing-related event in NYC I’d love to meet up!
Thanks, Marie! It was good to meet sewing-related people.
Looks like a great party! I totally agree that sewing is kind of a introvert thing. I’m glad that my sewing classes have started again. And I wish I had a kind of sewing buddy, but none of my friends are into sewing.
I’ve lately acquired a few friends here who are into sewing, it really helps when you have questions. I’d offer to be your sewing buddy but I live far :/
It was so fun to see you again, Janice! And lovely to chat to so many fun sewists and to ogle everyone’s fab outfits!
What a fabulous event, and how awesome that you got to go and meet so many sewing people!
Meeting and talking with you in person was so great!! I had a really great time at the party and afterwards at dinner. Thanks for asking me to come along!
Would have been so much fun! So jealous! Long way to go from Australia
Thanks for eating with us! I’m glad you had a good time, it was good to eat and talk with you.
Thanks, Meg! It was good to meet people who also like to sew.
Awww, I didn’t realize you were in Australia! Everyone seems so much nearer online!
Oh my goodness I’m so jealous you got to go to that party! Just wanted to say thanks so much for your sweet comment on my sewing classes post, it was much appreciated. Zoe xxx
