Butterick 5824, Advance 4518.

I’ve decided to try my first coat pattern, Gertie’s coat. I’ve been looking for a knee length princess coat for awhile now, and haven’t found any yet. Hopefully if I start now I can finish it in time for winter.
I usually only do one project at a time, but since a coat might be at time-consuming project, I also want to start on Advance 4518.
Oh the Gertie Coat! I love it, I got mine yesterday, I am a little afraid just because it might be time consuming
I’m afraid I won’t be finished untill next spring…
Me too, but if you start now you should hopefully finish it by the winter?
I got the coat pattern too! It’s hard for me to think about sewing a coat right now, as the weather has been pretty warm in CA.
I know what you mean! It’s 90 degrees here and very humid and rainy.
I am so ambivalent about the coat. I love it but not sure it would suit my petite and curve-less frame. Also unsure about the sleeves. But overall I think it’s gorgeous and I love a good sew along. Plus Gertie is a fantastic teacher. Decisions, decisions!
I’m definitely going to post my progress on coat muslins, Suzy. For me at least it looked really baggy, but after some adjustments it looks somewhat passable. I think I’m going to work on it pre- sew along, since I’m really bad at following those.
Are you making the Advance dress or seperates? I like the dress shape and pockets but the blouse is also really sweet.
I like all of it, but I think for now I plan on making the dress.
